Boun Neua Town:

Boun Neua is the commercial center of the province being the link to China.

The area of Boun Neua is a valley, 950 m in height, with rice paddies and agricultural land. It is surrounded by forested mountains where people of different ethnic groups live in their villages.

The 2-days-Jungle-Trek starting and ending in Boun Neua offers wonderful insight into this life. Boun Neua will be the capital of Phongsaly Province from 2015 on.

Get to Boun Neua by bus:

Direct busses from Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Oudomxay. From Oudomxay it’s 8 h.

Getting to Boun Neua by plane:
Domestic Airline ‘Lao Capricorn Air’ flies 6 times a week from Vientiane. Schedule in 2024 is from Mon to Fri, 9:00 VTE – PSL and 11:30 PSL – VTE. Flight time is 1.5 h. Price one way is around 1,500,000 Kip . It is a panoramic flight!

Connection shuttle service to Phongsaly town should be arranged before.
